National Football League Prediction Competition

Ardagh GAA would like to thank everyone who took part and sold cards in their recent fundraising venture which required you to predict the winners of each game in Division 1 of the National Football League. Much debate was generated during the selection of the winners and indeed a few heads were scratched until eventually we had white smoke as to who was ahead at the completion of the seventh round. Not many participants predicted that we would have so many draws or indeed that the Rossies would only win one game. Not too many cards had Mayo to beat Kerry in their own back yard or indeed that Mayo would lose to Monaghan in Mchale Park. Of course all of the results were followed with interest on our club website at ardaghgaaclub.com which has been brilliantly revamped by our wonderful PRO Grainne Gough. At the end of the competition three people emerged at the top of the 600+ entrants with 19 games predicted correctly out of the 28 games played – a great relief to the organisers as they had no worries about dividing the prize money. These were followed closely by 19 cards which had 18 correct predictions and X cards on 17 correct predictions. At the bottom of the leader board we had 2 people with 6 games and 1 person with 7 games correctly predicted, these shall remain nameless and are currently reviewing their knowledge of Gaelic Games. Ardagh club hope to expand this idea next year. In the current climate where even the small clubs require large quantities of funds to keep running any fund raising ideas are very welcome.
